Ernesto Morales was born in 1974 in Montevideo, Uruguay, and began his artistic career in Buenos Aires, where he lived until 2006, before moving to Europe. After an initial period in Paris, he established his studio in Italy, initially in Rome and since 2011 in Turin.
His artistic research has led him over the last twenty years to create exhibitions in international museums and galleries in Europe, America and Southeast Asia. Between 2009 and 2025 he institutionally represented Italy, Argentina and Uruguay with a series of important solo exhibitions. In 2019 his retrospective “Mindscapes” was inaugurated in New York at the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic. In 2023 he created the exhibition “Come fosse luce” in dialogue with the work of Lucio Fontana at the Fondazione La Crescentina in Italy. In 2025, after his exhibition “The beginning and the light” at the Rothko Museum in Latvia, he created the exhibition “Tra le ombre dorate del silenzio” in the Cathedral of Prato, in dialogue with the works of Renaissance artists such as Sandro Botticelli and Filippo Lippi.
Ernesto Morales’ artistic research, which draws on literary, philosophical and scientific studies, focuses on themes linked to the concept of transformation and the change of nature, its perception created by changes in light, and the use of mineral pigments in his works that interfere with the light spectrum of the environment and the visual movement of the viewer, creating a dynamic and changeable experience of the pictorial work.

Ernesto Morales nasce nel 1974 a Montevideo, in Uruguay, e inizia il suo percorso artistico a Buenos Aires dove ha vissuto fino al 2006 per poi trasferirsi in Europa. Dopo un primo periodo a Parigi, stabilisce il suo studio in Italia, inizialmente a Roma e dal 2011 a Torino.
La sua ricerca artistica lo ha condotto negli ultimi venti anni a realizzare mostre in musei e gallerie internazionali tra Europa, America e Sud-Est asiatico. Tra il 2009 e il 2025 ha rappresentato istituzionalmente Italia, Argentina e Uruguay con una serie di importanti esposizioni personali. Nel 2019 è stata inaugurata la sua retrospettiva “Mindscapes” a New York presso il Consolato Generale della Repubblica Argentina. Nel 2023 ha realizzato la mostra “Come fosse luce” in dialogo con l’opera di Lucio Fontana presso la Fondazione La Crescentina in Italia. Nel 2025 dopo la sua mostra“The beginning and the light” presso il Rothko Museum in Lettonia, realizza nel Duomo di Prato l’esposizione “Tra le ombre dorate del silenzio”, in dialogo con le opere di artisti rinascimentali come Sandro Botticelli e Filippo Lippi.
La ricerca artistica di Ernesto Morales, che si nutre di studi in ambito letterario, filosofico e scientifico, è incentrata su tematice collegate al concetto di trasformazione e al mutamento della natura, alla sua percezione creata dai cambiamenti della luce, e all’utilizzo nelle sue opere di pigmenti minerali che interferiscono con lo spettro luminoso dell’ambiente e con il movimento visivo dello spettatore, creando un’esperienza dell’opera pittorica dinamica e mutevole.
